Move Itunes Library From Mac To Synology Nas

broken image

Before you set up Home Sharing

Currently its stored on my external usb drive and the iTunes library files are situated in the music folder. My plan is to entirely move the iTunes folder and media to the Synology and simply target iTunes at this location, then stream as and when I need things over LAN or over a VPN connection. Simply go to the Package Center, look for the Plex Media Server app and press Stop. Your Synology NAS is now ready for you to import your existing Plex data. Package up your Plex Server on your Mac Now that your Synology is ready, it's time to get your existing Plex data off Mac. It should be noted that a NAS is a great device to back your music library up to, and also to stream audio out to devices from. However, I would never, ever, ever, ever, ever be willing to put up with the misery of actually managing an iTunes library on my NAS. My main itunes library has been moved off my PC,to my synology NAS. So now on my pc, i choose keep itunes organized, consolidated files, and changed the media location to the NAS.

Hi all,

I do have Plex running on my Synology NAS. My iTunes library is as well located on this NAS because SONOS accesses it perfectly from there.

Everything I found on the Internet regarding importing from iTunes seems to refer to former versions of Plex. The official FAQ page refers to 'channels' - something that I can't find on my settingins page. Instead there is an iTunes Plugin under 'Plugins' which I activated along with the XML path. Still I had to Import the library by providing the path to the iTunes Media Folder. There was no option in that Import process to make this an 'iTunes Import'.
